Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas

It's been a long time since I have posted here. Mainly because I have had sit aside my quilting and crafting for a short time. I truly hope to get going again very soon. I continue to visit your quilting blogs and love all the goodies you have all shared during the past few weeks!

God has been so good and blessed us as we are able to experience another Christmas with all our loved ones once again.
We have celebrated Christmas with family for the past few days and we are home to relax this blessed Christmas Eve.

During the entire month of December we have had the opportunity to be with friends and family and share the love of Jesus in so many ways. Sharing with elders in the nursing homes, shut-ins in the community, shopping and giving to the needy(youth at church), and making precious memories as we made candy and cookies for gifts. I truly wanted to share the love of Jesus and share what Christmas is all about. The Birth of Christ.

Inspiration

The past few days I have pulled out the queen size log cabin quilt and adding the last border before putting it together and pinning. I have cut the outside border and will sew them on today.I thought I'd post a picture so I took it outside on my front porch to get a better picture.
Taking a peek into all these wonderful blogs of quilters has definitely inspired me to "get quilting"!!
I just love visiting the blogs and must be careful or I will spend way too much time visiting and not near enough time doing all the things I really need to get accomplished.
We will be leaving this afternoon for a drive in the mountains to enjoy the colors of the leaves and this gorgeous cool fall day so I must make this short.

I just have to share this photo of the newest member of our family. Well, not really, he belongs to my daughter's boyfriend. Isn't he just adorable!! We love him to pieces already!

My Little Flag Quilt

One of my first "Little Quilts"

I have a funny little story to tell after reading Jeanne's blog about loosing her car keys.
A few weeks ago I had a ring at my door and lo and behold it was the electric company.
"Hello, may I help you" was my reply. The man answers with, "yes mam, I am here to turn off
the power." Whoooow, do what? Well, I actually said, excuse me....... here?
Well, long story short, after calling the company they didn't turn off my electricity. I immediately went looking for my check duplicate because I knew I had paid the bill. (:
After calling the bank the check had not cleared. I thought maybe someone had taken them out of my mailbox. The same day I had wrote another bill for the satellite co. also so I knew

something was up, we received a bill for this a couple days later.

A few weeks later I did find these two bills, hidden under a pile of material I had purchased and placed on my kitchen table/sewing room. SHeeeeesh, did I hate to admit this to hubby. He had already teased me about loosing my mind and misplacing things. (:
I was SO sure they had been taken from my mailbox or lost in the mail.
Boy, did I feel silly and relieved.

Below is the picture of the Log Cabin quilt I am hand stitching. I am very new to hand stitching since most of my quilts are machine quilted so it is coming together very slowly.
I wanted to be able to say I did one by hand I guess. Mostly sentimental since my grandmother did hand stitching.

Warm Welcome

Thank you Bren for the warm welcome!

I would like to pass on the "Fruit of the Spirit" to each one who may view my blog today.
We have enjoyed studying Galatians 5:22-23 and it is wonderful reminder of how we are to live as God's children.

I would like to take a moment to share how I began quilting. First of all, my grandmother made many quilts when she was living and gave them to each family member at Christmas or birthdays and I have always treasured the one she gave me. When I was young I used this beautiful quilt on my bed and continued to use it on the bed as a blanket after I was married. Looking back I wish I had put it on a quilt rack or on the wall as a decoration because it is a little worn and the binding is loose. It now rests on a quilt rack my father made for me several years ago. I have become very sentimental over the years and treasure this quilt among other things I have that my grandmother made. She sewed each stitch by hand. No machine quilting here. Each piece was stitched by hand and then quilted by hand. Wow, I can't imagine.
Fast forward several years and you find me among several friends the Lord has placed in my life who quilt. They introduced me to rotary cutting and machine quilting. This began my love for quilts.

The first book I actually bought was Little Quilts All Through the House, by The Patchwork Place. I made several of these and gave away as gifts. I kept a few to decorate my home and I hope to get these posted soon. I have tried and did have it posted but couldn't get it positioned in the right place.

At this time in my life I really enjoy looking at old quilts, reading about quilts and reading quilt magazines more than I do the actual quilting because I simply do not have the time it takes as I am a very busy stay-at-home mother. My girls are not little anymore and I do have more time than I have in the past so I hope this blog will help inspire and encourage me to continue and be more consistent in completing some unfinished projects.

First Post

I wish I had all the time in my day for quilting. So much to do and not enough time for sewing or quilting.
I've created this blog in hopes to finish some of the quilts in progress!! I have enjoyed reading other blogs for quite some time so I decided to join you!
I love to quilt but I'm overwhelmed by large projects so I mainly stick with "little quilts" or quilted crafts.
Goal for this week: The latest quilt in progress is a large queen size log cabin quilt I've been working on for quite some time. Pieced and needing to be sandwiched together and pinned.
What is the best way to put it together. I'm making plans to lay it out on two long tables, tape down tightly and pin together. Any suggestions are welcomed that will help me.
