First Post
I wish I had all the time in my day for quilting. So much to do and not enough time for sewing or quilting.
I've created this blog in hopes to finish some of the quilts in progress!! I have enjoyed reading other blogs for quite some time so I decided to join you!
I love to quilt but I'm overwhelmed by large projects so I mainly stick with "little quilts" or quilted crafts.
Goal for this week: The latest quilt in progress is a large queen size log cabin quilt I've been working on for quite some time. Pieced and needing to be sandwiched together and pinned.
What is the best way to put it together. I'm making plans to lay it out on two long tables, tape down tightly and pin together. Any suggestions are welcomed that will help me.

Welcome!!! I am sorry I can't help you with the basting..it is my LEAST favorite part of quilting. I tend to do more lap size quilts myself. I am hand quilting my first queen size quilt and I thread basted it by laying it out on my kitchen table. It took 2 of us to get it layed out (my older son helped me) and it was tedious. I was worried the whole time that I would have puckers on the back. It worked out ok, but I was not having fun!!

I am also a homeschooling mom so I was drawn to your blog right away.
The actual quilting is also my least favorite. I'm contemplating sending this one to a professional quilter and $$$$. I love stippling small projects.
Wow, hand quilting a queen, you must be fast. I am hand quilting a lap quilt and it's taking forever. LOL!

I don't mind basting because I love to quilt and I need to baste in order to get to the best part for me.
It sounds like you have a good plan for basting. Just make sure it's all smoothed out and that your batting and backing reach the ends...I couldn't tell you how many times I started to baste and got to an end only to find that my backing didn't reach!

Welcome to blogland. As for your quilt, it depends on whether you're planning on hand quilting or machine quilting it. Bren mentioned on her blog that you were considering sending it out ot be done. You can contact me through my name if you want advice.
Going back to your old posts, and it is probably too late to tell you how to baste quilts, but for future use... tables is a wonderful idea. Saves your knees. You can use big binder clips from office supply stores to hold your quilt firmly to your table. For machine quilting, use safety pins. For hand quilting, hand baste with a color thread that is easy to see.
