Warm Welcome

Thank you Bren for the warm welcome!

I would like to pass on the "Fruit of the Spirit" to each one who may view my blog today.
We have enjoyed studying Galatians 5:22-23 and it is wonderful reminder of how we are to live as God's children.

I would like to take a moment to share how I began quilting. First of all, my grandmother made many quilts when she was living and gave them to each family member at Christmas or birthdays and I have always treasured the one she gave me. When I was young I used this beautiful quilt on my bed and continued to use it on the bed as a blanket after I was married. Looking back I wish I had put it on a quilt rack or on the wall as a decoration because it is a little worn and the binding is loose. It now rests on a quilt rack my father made for me several years ago. I have become very sentimental over the years and treasure this quilt among other things I have that my grandmother made. She sewed each stitch by hand. No machine quilting here. Each piece was stitched by hand and then quilted by hand. Wow, I can't imagine.
Fast forward several years and you find me among several friends the Lord has placed in my life who quilt. They introduced me to rotary cutting and machine quilting. This began my love for quilts.

The first book I actually bought was Little Quilts All Through the House, by The Patchwork Place. I made several of these and gave away as gifts. I kept a few to decorate my home and I hope to get these posted soon. I have tried and did have it posted but couldn't get it positioned in the right place.

At this time in my life I really enjoy looking at old quilts, reading about quilts and reading quilt magazines more than I do the actual quilting because I simply do not have the time it takes as I am a very busy stay-at-home mother. My girls are not little anymore and I do have more time than I have in the past so I hope this blog will help inspire and encourage me to continue and be more consistent in completing some unfinished projects.

What a blessing to have the quilt from your grandmother. We need to see a picture of that too. I usually make sure I upload my pictures as medium size/center. Then you can "drag" them where you want them and set your words above and below them. Posting pics can be tricky. I also go back when I am finished with my draft and put everything back where it goes, as it seems that with each picture I upload, things get moved around. You will get the hang of it quickly. I look forward to seeing your quilts!
